This style can work on medium to long hair and you could probably alter it a little to use on short hair.
If you use it I'd love to see your results, you can hashtag them on insta or twitter with #otakusvoice or just comment an image and I'll see them.
Onto the tutorial!!
Equipment you shall need:
- Bobby pins (hair pins you cant see in your hair)
- 3 hair ties (one as discreet as possible)
- A hair brush
- Possibly a rat tail comb but it isn't essential
(My obviously used and loved hair styling utensils)
How to (alongside bad diagrams provided by me)
First
Brush that hair through, make sure there are as few tangles and knots as possible, this helps later.
Second
Using the rat tail part of the comb (or your fingers) separate the hair you will braid on one side of your head. You want to leave hair in front of the ear and take your section from just above the ear as shown in my bad dim diagram.
You then want to split this section into three equal strands.
Thirdly
Keeping the strands perpendicular to the face (basically as shown in the image) braid the strands. Tie off the ends of your braids.
If you are unsure of how to braid all you need to do is put one of the outside strands over the centre then put the other strand over the centre strand (which is now the old outside strand) and repeat till the end of your hair. You should try to make the braid tight as you can loosen it up when you finish by gently pulling at the edges.
Repeat steps two and three on the other side of your head.
Fouth
Pull the braids to the centre of the back of your head and tie the two of them together using your most discreet hair tie. Remove the other two hair ties and undo the braids till the last hair tie you just put in your hair.
Final step
Take hold of the hair tie and flip it up so the hair looks like a high pony (as shown in the picture) pin the hair and the hair tie but try to not make them show up.
